NEW BOARD APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED FOR AIR SEYCHELLES
(Posted 10th May 2014)
State House Victoria yesterday announced that President James Alix Michel has appointed the Seychellois board members of Air Seychelles, following the expiry of the mandate of the old board in late April.
President Michel retained the Minister for Home Affairs and Transport Joel Morgan as board chairman and further appointed the Seychelles Finance Minister Pierre Laporte, Ambassador Maurice Loustau-Lalanne and Mr. Jean Weeling-Lee, to serve a two year term of office effective 26th of April.
The government of Seychelles holds 60 percent of the shares in the national airline after selling 40 percent to Abu Dhabi’s Etihad under a deal reached between President Michel and Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan three years ago.
Since the arrival of Etihad on the scene has Air Seychelles undergone a fundamental transformation and started to turn profits for the past two years, while at the same time carrying out a complete fleet renewal and ordering additional aircraft for their domestic and international fleet.
An announcement from Etihad about their choice of board members is expected any time soon. For more information about the Seychelles’ national airline visit www.airseychelles.com
