New Born Colobus and Two Rescued Vervet Infants.

Elewa gave birth to new born last Friday, the troop is super excited and so are we, Colobus conservation hope to track the progress and continue data collection of the troop. Mali and Mel are newly rescued Vervets, they are between 2 & 3 months of age, and are under 24 hours infant care at the orphanage..
This is Mel shes was rescued around a shopping center where someone was trying to sell her off, she’s adopting well to the new habitat with great company of Mali. shes under Infant care and have very good appetite according to Volunteers taking of her.

It is indeed great news to have a new born of Colobus at the conservation, we hope she will make through to her adulthood. A few things to note:

  • The New born is under follow up by one of the volunteers for next two months.
  • Infants are under 24 hour care at the orphanage until they are eligible to move to the enclosure.
  • The process is continuous and we still receive more and more rescue calls.
