RASHID WALLY NAMED CHAIRMAN OF THE FASTJET PLC BOARD
(Posted 29th March 2017)
Following the recruitment of Nico Bezuidenhout as CEO of pan African low cost carrier Fastjet – he came from South African Airways own LCC Mango after serving twice as interim CEO of SAA – have two other senior figures, formerly from SAA, been brought on board the airline.
First came the announcement that Mr. Rashid Wally was named as non executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, filling a vacuum left by the departure of the former Chairman some time ago.
Wally, pictured above, is leaving his position as Chairman of Mango to join the Fastjet board.
The other top appointment announced was that of Mr. Michael Muller, pictured below, also formerly of SAA and Air Chefs but more recently of Paramount Land Systems, who will take over as the airline’s Chief Financial Officer, replacing Lisa Mitchell. She will leave Fastjet by the end of April while Michael has already been working at the new Johannesburg offices of Fastjet for several months before his new appointment was made public.
These two new appointments are expected to strengthen the capacity of the airline’s top executives as the Fastjet office move from London Gatwick is now underway in earnest to Johannesburg, a city served daily by the carrier from Dar es Salaam and from Harare.
