(Posted 06th July 2018)
A first major aviation development has taken place on Madagascar, following the partnership agreement between Air Austral of Reunion and Air Madagascar.
Tsaradia, a new domestic offspring of the national airline, took to the skies earlier this week and will operate routes across the sprawling island, using a fleet of seven aircraft to serve 10 destinations out of Antananarivo.
Tsaradia will use four ATR72’s and three DHC Twin Otter’s and is expected to increase seat capacity on domestic flights by over 50 percent, giving travelers more departure options.
Destinations served are Nosy Be, Antsiranana, Toamasina and Toliara with two daily flights while Saint Marie, Sambava, Mahajanga, Morondava and Maroantsetra will initially be served once a day.
It was learned at the same time that Tsaradia will cooperate closely with EWA Air, a subsidiary of Air Austral, to ensure that destinations served by EWA Air will also support Tsaradia operations.
EWA Air, based on the French island of Mayotte with Air Austral owning 52.3 percent of the shares operates daily services into Madagascar, serving Antananarivo, Nosy Be, Mahajanga and Antsiranana.
