New hotels are sprouting across Nairobi

AMBER HOTEL SET TO GRAB MARKET SHARE DUE TO LOCATION

A new hotel in upper Ngong Road has recently opened its doors, the privately owned four star Amber Hotel.
This confirms the trend that more and more developers are now looking beyond the traditional hotel hubs in the Central Business District, Upper Hill, Hurlingham, Riverside or Westlands for instance where a staggering 3.000 new beds alone will join the market over the next few years.
Amber, with 109 rooms and suites and ample meeting facilities, will no doubt meet the need of many companies at this part of Nairobi, whose visitors can now be spared the commute and yet find classy accommodation nearby, while workshops and conferences too can now be held nearby.
A Gym, a Spa and an outdoor pool are available at the hotel for residents. Notably does the hotel use solar water heaters for hot water generation and the entire rooftop has been covered with solar panels to feed its power needs through a hybrid system of both mains electricity and solar generated electricity. This reduces cost as well as improve the hotel’s carbon footprint.
Major global hotel companies are queuing up to take on the management of new hotels, the most notably recent arrival being the Radisson Blu on Upper Hill, though Moevenpick, Starwood, Marriott and others are said to be hot on Radisson’s heels now.
Hilton will soon open a new Garden Inn hotel along the airport road, as will the Four Season’s brand of Starwood while elsewhere in the city the scramble is now on to get the last top spots available for hotel developments.
