New parking facility opened at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

KENYA AIRPORT AUTHORITY BOOSTS JKIA PARKING BY 1.300 PLACES

(Posted 01st September 2017)

The Kenya Airports Authority earlier today announced that the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Car Parking Garage is now officially open to the public. The facility is able to handle 1.300 additional cars for short term and long term parking. The parking garage will be well remembered by passengers arriving in Nairobi as it served as the main arrival hall for several years after the devastating fire at the airport in August 2013.
First used after that fire were tents where arriving passengers completed immigration and customs checks but within the space of a few weeks had the parking garage, then still under construction on the upper levels, been made habitable. Immigration and customs counters, a health check point, baggage carousels, washrooms and later even lost and found services, shops and banks as well as taxi services were introduced to make life for visitors to Kenya easier. The facility was then used until the new arrival halls had been completed in Terminal 1A, home to Kenya Airways and their alliance partners and other refurbished terminals undergoing a complete overhaul.
Congratulations to KAA on this milestone development!
