Protea Hotels is making further inroads into the hospitality market in Uganda with a new hotel on Naguru Hill presently in the soft opening stage.
The Protea Hotel Naguru Skyz is the third owned and operated by Protea Hotels Uganda – a fourth is presently also under development – and Mr. Stuart Cook, CEO of the company, is quoted to have said: ‘The two new developments in Kampala are a symbol of our strong commitment to the continued economic development of Uganda. The tourism sector is one of the Government’s key focus areas of growth; the two new hotels will directly create over five hundred new jobs and, with our close links to the Makerere University Business School’s Hospitality Management Program, continue to identify and develop the next generation of industry leaders through our experiential training programmes.’
Protea Hotel Naguru Skyz and the Protea Hotel Pinnacle are both situated in Kampala’s affluent suburb of Naguru.

The first of the two new Protea Hotels added a further 141 rooms and suites to the market in Kampala while the second hotel – no firm opening date could be confirmed at this stage – is projected to comprise 105 rooms and suites. Both hotels will offer a range of meeting and conferencing facilities, restaurants, bars and amenities required to be accepted by the Protea by Marriott brand. The arrival of the new Naguru Skyz will add further pressure on existing three and four star hotels in the city to refurbish and modernize or else risk losing clientele to such state of the art properties which in addition to being brand new have an internationally well recognized brand name over the entrance,
