PRIDE OF 8 LIONS vs HARTEBEEST |
|
The moaning of Lions have been quite frequent around camp for the past few weeks and it was just a matter of time and some luck that we would capture some amazing footage of them. One evening after a sundowner from one of our favorite lookout hills, we had seen and heard some activity in the tall grass during the drive back to camp. Just less than 1km away from the tents was a pride of 8 lions in the middle of a kill of a huge hartebeest. The pride of 8 Lions in the clip are the offspring of two collared Lions that are monitored by our Trust partner, Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust. It is a wonderful sight for us to see these offspring developing and hunting.

The Chyulus aren’t the only things that are green and beautiful these days at camp.. we wanted to give a little shout out and some love to our new organic produce and can’t wait to serve these delicious goods to our guests! We’ve gone organic and have everything from beautiful berries to hearty leafy greens. We cater to all dietary needs and have some new vegetarian and vegan options at camp and we hope to see you soon so you can try some of our fabulous recipes!

There’s a popular resident we have at camp that loves bananas, peanut butter and frolicking through the lush grass! His name is "Kudu" and if you haven’t guessed already.. he is a Lesser Kudu. He’s still just under a year old, Lesser kudu males have long, spiral horns; occasionally a female will have small ones. The horns are spectacular and can grow as long as 72 inches, making 2 1/2 graceful twists. We took him in after he was orphaned and since then he has grown up into quite an independent being. It was an initial concern that he would become dependent on our care, but he has for the last few weeks integrated with a herd of Impala that frequent our camp and we couldn’t be happier for him! He visits every now but now you can find him running with his new Impala friends and eating all of the flowers 😉
