Captain of the Mumbai Indians cricket team and one of the most successful batsman in the Indian Premier League, Rohit Sharma, paid a visit to Ol Pejeta last week, to raise awareness about the plight of rhinos across Africa. Debatas Anti-Jigger Campaign |
It is estimated that over 1.4 million people are affected by jiggers in Kenya alone. Jiggers are tiny sand fleas that burrow into the skin – causing pain and secondary infections that can pose a serious threat to people’s lives. At the end of August, the Ol Pejeta Human Capital Department partnered with the Debatas Community Health Worker to launch the first in a series of anti-jigger clinics.
