UCOTA’s office has relocated
Uganda Community Tourism Association wishes to inform all stakeholders, partners and friends that the office has been shifted from plot 7A, Lugogo Bypass to Bukoto Plot 1732 Old Kira Road. The office contacts remain the same. Telephone:ucota See map for directions.
Registration of Community Based Tourism Enterprises (CBTEs).
UCOTA is to spearhead inventory development of all community Based tourism enterprises (CBTEs) in Uganda starting July 2015. All managers of CBTEs are therefore encouraged to register their CBTEs then either through (1) UCOTA websites; ucota ,info, (3) Phone (direct calls/ sms) 414 501866, 0772657700, 0712500019 or physically at the office (map below). The registration information includes;
Name and type of enterprise, location, ownership (if community number of males/females), contacts, services offered and prices, number of staff, number direct and indirect beneficiaries and community development projects supported by enterprise.
Why register?
- To plan for better service delivery by both government and UCOTA e.g capacity building and marketing.
- Be part of the National CBTE inventory

Kigezi Village Traditional AccommodationN (KIVITA)
Kigezi Village Traditional Accommodation is an Eco-tourism Community Based Enterprise that is located adjacent to the Bwindi National Park. It is approximately 12-hour drive from Kampala City, 5 hour-drive from Kabale town and 4-hour drive from Kasese Town through Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha with a 4WD vehicle. It is located along Butogota-Bwindi road at Kyeshero 6km to Buhoma-Bwindi Impenetrable National Park head quarters.Read more

Tinka’s Homestay in Kamwenge Western Uganda
Over six years ago, I was inspired by the Uganda Community Tourism Association (UCOTA) to start a homestay. Combined with my travel experience to other parts of the world and my special interest in sharing culture and interpretation, it was an easy task for UCOTA. LUTEMBE AND MABAMBA WETLANDS COMMUNITY ACTION PLANS LAUNCH
The Friday of 12th June 2015 was the day that the members of Lutembe Wetland Users Association (LWUA) and Mabamba Bay Wetland Eco-tourism association (MWETA), communities witnessed the launch of their community action plan that was spearheaded by Nature Uganda. Read more
Kibale Association For Rural and Environmental Development (KAFRED) celebrates 20 Years.
On the20th June KAFRED celebrated the two-decade existence plus the accolades collected all around the world for recognition of the work done in the remote village known to very few. On the special celebration was minister of Presidency and Kampala affairs, Hon. Frank Tumwebaze as guest of honour, representative of the Minister of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities, Akankwasa Barirega, representatives from Uganda Tourism Board, local government, Uganda Wildlife Authority and the conservation fraternity. While addressing the congregation, Hon. Frank Tumwebaze described eco-tourism as a grass-root niche and viable income generating activity that should be embraced by communities. Read more
BIGODI WETLAND SANCTUARY WALK
The walk started at around 10.00 am. We immediately realized that inside the forest and the wetland was so cool and refreshing compared to the outside. The wetland is surrounded by the thick forest which phenomenon is well qualified with the panoramic view one gets while at the watch-tower along the trail.Read more
The Uganda Tourism Association (UTA) breakfast meeting
The Guest of honour Mr. Bitature appreciated the business leaders and members present for meeting at such a time. He said that at a young age he had an illusion about being a Ugandan but today we have to groom and project an image for our children to be proud Ugandans. Read more
