Jeneria Wins Two Awards
We’ve long known Jeneria was a champion for Kenya’s lions. Now, he’s getting global recognition for his important work responding to human-lion conflict, coordinating our team’s fieldwork, and inspiring his fellow Samburu warriors to embrace conservation.
In the same week, Jeneria was bestowed with the Disney Conservation Hero Award and Houston Zoo’s Wildlife Warrior award. “This is a very big honor for me,” said Jeneria upon hearing the news. “I accept this award on behalf of my warriors, who are the most dedicated lion conservationists. I have hope for Kenya’s lions now.”

Expanding Mama Simba
We have engaged more than 300 Samburu women in conservation since we launched the Mama Simba program in 2013. We conducted a survey to evaluate the program, and the results were positive. Next year, we will take the program to new heights by adding more women, improving the conservation trainings, and providing better education. Read on to find out what’s next for the Mamas.

Next Week is #GivingTuesday
December 1st is #GivingTuesday – the global movement to support causes that are making a difference for good. This holiday season, give a gift to Kenya’s lions and the people that live with them. Please make a donation and spread the word about Ewaso Lions on #GivingTuesday.

Photo of the Month
For many of us, this time of year is about gathering with friends over a good meal. This was also the case for this very full lion in Samburu National Reserve who went belly up after feasting on a waterbuck. The lions could barely move and kept rolling around! The dry season proved well for the lions, who had many successful hunts.
