VISA ON ARRIVAL FOR AFRICAN CITIZENS COMING TO NIGERIA AS THE COUNTRY OPENS UP TO TOURISM
(Posted 13th December 2019)
President Buhari’s confirmation yesterday that Nigeria will grant Visa on Arrival for all citizens of African Union member states, effective January 2020, has been greeted with my applause by the continent’s travel fraternity.
‘Getting Visa for Nigeria was always such a big headache and took too long. This move will go a long way to bring more visitors to Nigeria and we hope that other African countries, like South Africa for instance, will follow suit. The same applies for some countries in North Africa, where getting Visa is also a headache. It is high time that African Union resolutions on creating a seamless travel across the continent, will become reality‘ said a travel agent in Nairobi when asked about his opinion.
ECOWAS member state citizens already had the privilege to travel to Nigeria Visa free and while other African country citizens will continue to pay a Visa fee, they are at least now free of the burden to apply in advance with the ton of paperwork which went along with it.
