NKURINGO SECTOR OF BWINDI NOW HAS ONE LESS GORILLA FAMILY FOR TRACKING

The Uganda Wildlife Authority has according to information seen by ATCNews informed the travel trade that one of the gorilla families in the Nkuringo sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Gorilla National Park is no longer available for tracking.
In a letter to AUTO, short for Association of Uganda Tour Operators and copied to the Uganda Tourism Board, does the UWA Executive Director Sam Mwandha inform that the group has ‘disintegrated‘ and is subsequently no longer available for visits by tourists. It would appear that the group broke up and the remaining number of gorillas does no longer meet tracking parameters set by UWA, informing the decision taken to take the group off the tracking list.
UWA also confirmed that the daily number of gorilla tracking permits available now stands at 136 per day. Tourists booked and confirmed for this group will be rebooked and accommodated, as far as possible, on to other gorilla groups.
