The daily dose of bad news from around the world …
Poaching, Wildlife and Environmental Crimes galore …
in the spotlight today ……………………
DOES THIS CHIMPANZEE LOOKED BORED OUT OF ITS MIND TO YOU?
THAT’S BECAUSE IT IS.
WELL YOU’D BE WOULDN’T YOU IF YOU WERE LOCKED IN A CONCRETE
AND WIRE CAGE, SUCH AS THIS ONE AT SHANGHAI ZOO LAST WEEK.
SHOCKING – ISN’T IT?
But, such horrific treatment of chimpanzees hasn’t stopped
CITES CHINA from permitting 130 or more baby chimpanzees, stolen from West Africa
to enter China unhindered by the law. It’s so wrong, isn’t it? It also only
encourages the illegal wildlife trade, doesn’t it? The CITES Secretariat took a look at the case and,
to no one’s surprise, found, in their view, China had done nothing wrong!

Chinese Netizens Call This Zoo an ‘Animal Concentration Camp’
Haicang Wildlife Zoo in Xiamen City, Fujian Province, is home to a pair of Aldabra giant tortoises—one of the largest species of tortoises in the world—that were given by Mauritius to the Xiamen government in April 2012. (NA COMMENT: CITES officials in China approved this import and zoo. Disgraceful, isn’t it? Will the abuse of power and animals by CITES officials in China ever end – be stopped?) http://www.theepochtimes.com/n3/1352259-chinese-netizens-call-this-zoo-an-animal-concentration-camp/
REMEMBER THIS SCANDAL IN 2013?
THE TRADE WAS ALL APPROVED BY CITES.
SICKENING ISN’T IT?
HOW CAN CITES OFFICIALS SLEEP AT NIGHT?
NOT FORGETTING
THE 500 0R MORE ADULT CHIMPANZEES KILLED TO GET THESE BABIES…..ALL BECAUSE OF CHINA.

Taking botanical trade and conservation seriously. EXTRACT Many orchids are protected under national legislation, and international trade in wild orchids is tightly restricted under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). These alarming findings, however, may be overlooked in some circles because they involve plants rather than animals.
