MALAYSIA: We all have role to play in fighting illegal trade (NA Comment: The CITES secretariat, no less, call this talk “Inspiring”. See what you think. The DG was able to sum up CITES (?) ‘achievements’ over 42 years in just 15 minutes! Imagine, at a cost of hundreds of millions of dollars their achievements (?) can be condensed into 15 minutes.CITES failures would likely take days to summarise. If you are not familiar with TED talks, note the lukewarm applause at the end – when most TED talks receive rapturous applause. If there is one thing CITES does well, it’s talk. Meanwhile their friends in CHINA, TANZANIA, VIETNAM, to name but a few, steal the world’s wildlife with no fear of being punished by their CITES ‘Club’ mates.
