Two Malaysians charged with wildlife smuggling in Portland, US –
EXTRACT: Two Malaysian men have been arrested and charged in Oregon in the United States for smuggling wildlife, including the skulls of the orang utan, through air mail, said an american news portal.
The Oregon Public Broadcasting website published in its news section a report naming Malaysians Eoin Ling Churn Yeng, 35 and Galvin Yeo Siang Ann, 33, who were picked up by federal agents last Friday when they arrived for a business appointment.
The report said that according to the US Department of Justice, the two men allegedly co-owned an online business that has been regularly smuggling endangered wildlife into the US since 2004.
It said the agents had reportedly bought three orangutan skulls, five hornbill bird skulls, skulls from a langur monkey and wild pig known as a babirusa, as well as the rib a of a dugong, although records indicated that Ling and Yeo sold other wildlife items in the US.
