An Early Start for Solo’s Calf
Rhino calves typically part with their mothers to find their own territories at the age of 2 years. However, this was not the case for Solo’s calf.

Despite an unusually early start, this young rhino seems to be adapting beautifully to life in the wild.

Green energy
Finally Green Energy for Ereri Primary School
Ereri Primary School is located in a remote area north of Ol Pejeta. Here, among other infrastructural challenges, schools and households are off-grid and have no access to electricity.

However, thanks to Ol Pejeta’s ongoing partnership with Woodpecker International Foundation, Ereri’s prospects are looking bright. A group of volunteers recently installed a 5000W solar system, fully capable of powering dormitories as well as a new computer laboratory.

Recovering Ol Pejeta’s Beisa Oryx Population
Ol Pejeta’s population of Beisa Oryx has recently been consolidated at the predator-free Mount Kenya Wildlife Estate.

This move is geared towards boosting population numbers and increasing genetic diversity.

Wild Discovery Fact
Did you know? Chimpanzees are some of our closest relatives. These great apes share 98.6% of their genetic DNA with humans.

Their interactions and behaviour bear many uncanny resemblances to humans. Like us, chimpanzees are known to make use of tools – using rocks to crack tough nuts and long, thin twigs to fish for termites. They are the only primates to have developed tool use to such an advanced level.
