Our letter to Santa

Santa doesn’t come to Ol Pejeta. He worries about his reindeer with the lions. But when our baby rhino wrote us his Christmas wish list, we just didn’t have the heart to tell him. So we’re asking you to be his Santa this December – you get all the warm fuzzy feeling of being a selfless human being, you feel a little less guilty about the indulgences of the festive season, and you don’t even have to wear a Santa suit (unless that’s what you’re in to).

This kid drinks US$20 worth of milk each day. Just US$60 would ensure his month’s supply of oatmeal (yup, he likes a healthy breakfast), while US$350 would pay the salaries of his two full time carers for a month.

These chidren need a Santa too! And they are not asking for much.

Some of the local children around Ol Pejeta have been writing their wish lists too. Never mind the latest toys or gadgets, all they want is to know they can go to school next year. US$300 would pay for a whole year of secondary school fees for one child, while just US$50 would buy four solar lamps to keep her family lit up at night.
