Dear Friend of Ol Pejeta:
Ol Pejeta Rangers
Refreshed Rangers
To keep our rangers up to date with the latest cutting edge techniques in conservation and security, our Wildlife Management Department carries out a patrol teams refresher course every year in October and November.

This year, over 200 rangers from Ol Pejeta, Mount Kenya Wildlife Estate and Mutara Conservancy attended the course, which was as much about re-training as it was about catching up and exchanging stories from the field.

Mobile Clinic
This month Ol Pejeta trialled an SMS blast that spread the word of a new mobile clinic.

Over 100 people turned up for treatment as a result. The clinic aims to solve the challenges that community members to the north of the Conservancy face due to sparse medical facilities, and will now be rolled out weekly to service more villages in the region.

Discovering the secrets of lions

With new GPS collars on several of our lionesses, our Ecological Monitoring Unit are now able to identify potential kill sites. This in turn, is helping to protect our endangered herbivores, assist our livestock department, help community livestock owners, and ultimately, conserve lion populations.
