Anti-poaching dog on Ol Pejeta
Zorro is one of the six anti-poaching dogs you can sponsor. As one of their sponsors, you’ll be given a unique insight into what it means to be an anti-poaching dog on Ol Pejeta.
Its official, Ol Pejeta let the dogs out. As far as poachers are concerned that is. We have been working with White Paw Professional Dog Training on establishing a canine centre of excellence on the Conservancy. This is a well-trained canine force primed to counteract the poaching menace that threatens the very existence of Africa’s most majestic animals. The unit is comprised of tracker, patrol, assault as well as multi-role dogs and their specialized handlers. And finally, you can get involved on a long-term basis by adopting one of these dogs.

CATHY’S FIGHT TO THE FINISH

On their most recent visit, Ol Pejeta staff caught up with Cathy and her mum. Cathy was having a good day and regaled the staff with stories about her sister, Njeri.
During a visit to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, students from George Heriot’s were introduced to Cathy who at six years is fighting a battle few children her age have fought with even fewer resources. Today, as Ol Pejeta staff pays her a follow-up visit, she regales us with stories about her big sister, Njeri. She is having a good day. The first clue that something is off is the thick black beanie she insists on wearing despite the heat. When she takes it off, the tufts of hair on her head are a tell-tale sign of radiation therapy.
