| In spite of the increasing costs involved in protecting rhinos, and ever growing inflation costs, Ol Pejeta Conservancy has decided to hold the current 2017 Conservancy Entry rates for 2018.
Over the last four years, we have seen a steady and consistent growth in the domestic arrivals to Ol Pejeta, however the non-resident market remains relatively variable and unpredictable influenced by the threat of security unease. As such we felt that it was important to wait until after the August 8th General elections before releasing our 2018 conservancy entry rates, and as it turns out, this is now an exceptional election year as Kenyans exercise their democratic rights with a re-run of the presidential election scheduled to take place in October.
We do hope that by holding our rates, we will encourage continued growth in visitation to the Conservancy. Ol Pejeta is a not for profit organisation and we are committed to improving infrastructure and product development for tourism whilst continuing to achieve our principal conservation and community development goals. We remain host to the single most significant black rhino population in East Africa, one of only nine so called ‘Key 1’ populations on the African Continent. We also continue to support the communities living around us, spending over US$650,000 in 2016 on various development projects.
