Ol Pejeta is an "outstanding example of how tourism can be used by conservationists to protect habitats and species and to uplift local communities" said the judges at the African Sustainable Tourism Awards as Ol Pejeta was awarded Best for Wildlife Conservation.

Hillcrest
Kids rock the bake sale for Ringo
A group of children from Hillcrest School in Nairobi have raised over Ksh 30,000 for Ringo, after learning about the plight of rhinos in class. At their bake sale, the conservation-savvy class sold cookies and milkshakes to fellow students, teachers and parents. One student, Maya, even made bumper stickers out of a rhino sketch she drew. Safari on a shoestring

Originally built to house the horses of the previous owner of Ol Pejeta, The Stables, formerly the Research Centre, has now been converted into budget accommodation. Few safari experiences cater to those travelling on a tight budget, but The Stables aims to change that, and offers basic but comfortable full board accommodation facilities for SELF-DRIVE clients.

New classrooms for Njoguini Primary
Partnering with Woodpecker International Education Consulting, Beijing China, Ol Pejeta built seven new classrooms for the children at Njoguini Primary school. The classes were officially opened on the 23rd March in a ceremony graced by the Laikipia County Governor, HE Joshua Irungu and several local leaders.

Relocate trafficked chimps to Ol Pejeta – SIGN THE PETITION
Two orphaned chimpanzees have been confiscated in Qatar, but their whereabouts is unknown. PEGAS has tried contacting authorities, but now we need your help. We are asking authorities to find them, and get them to Sweetwaters Sanctuary where they can get the care and support they need. Please sign the petition.

Cattle for wildlife
Cattle for Wildlife is an Australian not-for-profit group working through Bookend Trust to support and promote community engagement in wildlife conservation. They have launched a campaign called Cattle for Wildlife, where cattle in Australia are raised and sold – and the proceeds are donated to Ol Pejeta’s rhino rangers!
