Olare Orok Airstrip
Information was just received from Air Kenya, one of the airlines operating scheduled and charter services into the Masai Mara out of Wilson Airport, that they have suspended flights to the Olare Orok airfield due to the poor condition of the strip after very heavy rains.
It is thought that other airlines too will halt services to this particular airstrip until the field has dried up again.
Alternative airfields in the Masai Mara were given as Mara North and Olkiombo which are reasonably nearby and continue to receive traffic for now.
Any passengers booked to the Olare Orok airstrip should contact their bush airlines to find out what options they have and also remain in contact with the camps or lodges they were to stay in on the conservancy to ensure a coordinated pick up from their chosen landing strip.
Watch this space to learn when conditions have improved at the Olare Orok airstrip to a point of airlines resuming services.
