Dear ATCNews Readers,
We are thrilled to be able to share our 2018 Annual Report with you. We’ve changed up the format this year, setting out achievements and updates in a monthly diary to give you a more intimate view of working life on Ol Pejeta. You’ll also find the usual combination of engaging graphics and headline statistics for key departments at the beginning.
We had some big wins last year:
- There were 11 rhino births last year, and zero incidents of poaching, which means our rhino population is growing fast.
- Just as well that the Mutara fence is reaching completion; this will provide much-needed additional habitat for rhinos and other wildlife.
- Visitor numbers to the conservancy exceeded 100,000 for the first time – 50% of these visitors were Kenyans.
- We raised and dispersed over US$600,000 (Ksh 60 million) in support of our community development programmes.
