One year of Airbus A350XWB operations – a cause for celebrations by Qatar Airways

QATAR AIRWAYS CELEBRATES A YEAR OF AIRBUS A350XWB OPERATIONS

Qatar Airways used their presence at the Bahrain Airshow to celebrate a year of Airbus A350XWB operations, which commenced in January 2015 with flights from Doha to Frankfurt.

At the event were among many other high profile guests Qatar’s Minister of Transportation, His Excellency Mr. Jassim Al Sulaiti, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Mr. Akbar Al Baker, the President & CEO of Airbus, Mr. Fabrice Brégier and the Chairman of the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority Mr. Abdullah Nasser Turki Al Subaey.

Qatar Airways’ A350 was the first A350 to enter commercial service a year ago after a major launch event in Doha and now flies to four destinations – Frankfurt, Munich, Philadelphia and Singapore. More destinations will be added in 2016 as more of these state of the art aircraft are delivered to Qatar Airways.

Held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa is the bi-annual Air Show taking place at the Sakhir Airbase in Bahrain. A number of VIP delegates visited Qatar Airways’ chalet on the opening day and were given an exclusive tour of the airline’s A350, A380 and G650ER by the airline’s Group CEO Mr. Akbar Al Baker.

He was quoted to have said on the occasion: ‘Qatar Airways is excited to participate in the region’s first air show of the year, and Bahrain has already delivered beyond our expectations. We chose this event to celebrate the one year anniversary of our A350 operations, and the public and industry are welcome to tour the very latest in aircraft technology, and we look forward to celebrating this milestone with them’.

Qatar Airways flies from their hub in Doha at the award winning Hamad International Airport to Eastern Africa, serving Entebbe and Kigali, Nairobi, Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam and the holiday island of Zanzibar while in the wider region also flying to Addis Ababa, Djibouti and Asmara. All these destinations are served with Airbus A320 aircraft.
