Only two beaches in #Africa make it into #TripAdvisor’s top 25

#SEYCHELLES’ ANSE LAZIO AND CAPE VERDE’S SANTA MONICA BEACH SQUEEZE INTO TRIPADVISOR’S TOP 25 BEST BEACHES IN THE WORLD

(Cape Verde’s Santa Monica Beach)

As it often the case with Africa’s key tourism attractions, hotels, resorts and safari lodges, when it comes to the global list by organizations like TripAdvisor, the continent is largely underrepresented and few mentions are achieved on GLOBAL lists.
The same is the case with the current and only recently published list of the top 25 beaches in the world, which is dominated by the Carribean, the South Pacific and other regions of the world.

(Seychelles’ Anse Lazio – often named amongst the best beaches in the world)

Only Anse Lazio from the Seychelles, which made it to number 24 in the list, and Santa Monica Beach from Cape Verde as number 25, made it into the top rankings this year, although of course, when it comes to the African top 10 or 25, they do feature year after year.

It is again obvious, given that beaches like Kenya’s Diani Beach have not made an appearance in this prestigious listing, that more work needs to be done by tourism marketers and the private sector to push visitors to our shores to vote more actively for their chosen African destinations, the attractions they see and the hotels, resorts and lodges they stay in.

Congratulations to the Seychelles and Cape Verde on their accomplishment, representing the African continent towards the rest of the world.
