‘Pay to Stay’ now available for Kenya Airways’s premium lounges

KENYA AIRWAYS OPENS LOUNGES IN ‘PAY TO STAY’ INITIATIVE

(Posted 12th September 2015)

Kenya Airways has with immediate effect changed the rules to access their premier lounges at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Entitled travelers now have the option to bring a paying guest along to wait for their flight departure, as long as certain conditionalities are observed. The cost of the service, which is subject to space actually being available in the lounge, ranges from 20 US Dollars in the domestic departure lounge to 30 US Dollars in the lounge operated by KQ in Terminal 1C while access to the Pride and Simba lounges in Terminal 1A will set a guest back by US Dollars 40. The following terms and conditions were availed for publication:

Conditions of admittance

  • Lounge admission will be granted subject to availability.
  • The lounge reserves the right of admission.
  • The day pass will be valid for eight hours on day of travel.
  • The lounge will be operational between 05h00-00h01.
  • The lounge service, once sold, cannot be refunded.
  • Pay lounge day pass is not transferable.
  • Infants will have free access to the lounge (i.e. children who have not celebrated their second birthday).
  • Children above two years will pay same rate as adults (no discount).
  • Invited guests must be flying with a SkyTeam carrier; Kenya Airways partner airlines; or Kenya Airways Customer Airlines handled by Kenya Airways.

Reservations can be made for this new service when booking tickets or else be paid in cash. The number of paying guests also varies, for C-Class ticket holders up to four, for Platinum and Gold card holders up to two paying guests (such card holders may be entitled to on guest on a complimentary basis depending on card status).

The new service is seen as part of the airline’s effort to become more user friendly while at the same time showcasing some of the goodies travelers in Premium class can expect for free.
