Christmas Market in Rwanda – and why not?

The Red Rocks Campsite outside Musanze, formerly known as Ruhengeri, is planning to pull out all stops to make visitors from abroad feel at home, especially as the runup to the festive season kicks off soon.
Towards that end has Greg Bakunzi, the owner of the site, announced the launch of a Christmas Market, from the 28th of November to the 24th of December.
Visitors who come to Musanze to track the gorillas or the golden monkeys or those in transit to or from Lake Kivu, Gishwati-Mukura or Nyungwe Forest national parks, are most welcome to drop in at the Red Rocks site – the road is presently being completely rebuild to make access easier – and see what Rwanda has in store for them to bring home as Christmas presents.

The village Christmas market is back in Musanze thanks to Red Rocks Campsite. This year’s edition will include a farmers markets, with outdoor stalls in rows and vendors selling own merchandise offering an assortment of specialties in food, cakes or cookies, decorations, handicrafts, ornaments, gifts and a perfect place to gather with family or friends to shop and meet new people while there.
The Christmas Village Market opens on the 28th November and comes to an end on the 24th December 2015, featuring many attractions for both the international travelers and local residents. Throughout the 4 weeks daily activities make a visit to the Red Rocks site the ultimate family destination and every single evening until the Christmas market closes off will see music performances by cultural troupes till late in the night. The event organizer is Amahoro Tours with knowledge and expertise in travel and tours events like the Cultural Tourism Week and Crazy Night of Gorillas which takes place every year on the last night of the Kwita Izina Gorilla Naming Festival

The Village Christmas market has became a meeting platform for community people to learn and understand the concepts of environmental conservation for sustainable community tourism in Musanze and as a market for homemade Christmas handcrafts or decorations exposing the cultural pillars of our society.
