SEYCHELLES HERITAGE FOUNDATION RESTORES ‘GRANN KAZ‘ TO ITS FORMER GLORY

Good news for history buffs is coming from the third most populated island of the Seychelles archipelago, La Digue, where the Seychelles Heritage Foundation has began major renovations on the famous plantation house, known as ‘Grann Kaz‘ in the local Creole language.
This is good news for visitors flying to Mahe for the annual Carnival International de Victoria who will take time out or add time on to the festival period and take the ferries from Mahe via Praslin to La Digue.
The Plantation is one of La Digue’s major attractions and literally every tour across the little island stops over to show tourists what life once upon a time was like, when growing coconuts and processing them was the mainstay of economic activity.
When the renovations are complete, said to cost around 200.000 US Dollars, will the ‘Grann Kaz‘ be turned into a proper museum with many furnishings, artefacts and exhibits making a visit even more rewarding.
Located on the Union Estate was the house originally built in the 19th century and has become one of the La Digue landmarks.
Accommodation is available on the island from simple B&B’s to charming guest houses as well as four and five star resorts where tourists can enjoy a relaxed vacation.
