Police arrest suspect with elephant tusks in Migori County

A multi-agency team comprising the National Police Service, the Kenya Wildlife Service, and other partners yesterday arrested a foreign national in Nyamosense, Migori County. Acting on intelligence, the team apprehended the suspect, who was found in possession of 19 elephant tusks. Investigations are underway, and the suspect remains in custody pending processing and arraignment.
The price of ivory quoted in these articles is incorrect. The current price for ivory in Africa is estimated to be between $50-$100 per kilo. Overstating the price of ivory incentivises poachers.
