(Posted 23rd October 2014)
Precision Air, a private airline quoted on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange, has just completed the auditing process to retain the coveted IOSA Certification, IATA’s seal of quality for operational safety standards.
First certified in 2006 has the airline since then undergone the bi-annual recertification and passed every time. The present certification will run until the 22nd September 2016 at which time IATA will carry out a fresh audit to ascertain that the highest standards of global operational safety procedures continue to be in place.
Precision Air, operating a fleet of ATR 42 and ATR 72 aircraft, presently operates domestic flights from its hub in Dar es Salaam to the Arusha Municipal Airport, to Kilimanjaro International but also to Mwanza, Mtwara, Kigoma, Bukoba and Zanzibar while regionally serving Nairobi.
IATA represents some 240 airlines around the globe or 80 percent of the global air traffic and has been at the forefront to promote safe and secure operations, which initially prompted the launch of IATA’s operational safety audit, today a benchmark which must be met as a precondition for airline’s to cooperate.
