(Posted 15th November 2022)

It has been just over one week since our flight PW 494 came down near Bukoba with the loss of our two flight crew and 17 passengers. 22 of our passengers and two of our cabin crew mercifully survived.

On behalf of all at Precision Air including our directors, management and staff we continue to express our sadness and extend our sympathy to the families and friends who lost loved ones and those that survived. All of you remain in our thoughts and prayers.

We wish to advise that Precision has taken a number of steps in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy to respond to the needs of our passengers and their families.

We set up contact centres in both Bukoba and Dar es Salaam so that families could enquire about their loved ones and transmit information to us about them. Following a funeral ceremony we have returned the bodies of the deceased to their families in accordance with their wishes.

All of those who survived the tragedy have returned home and we shall continue to liaise with them as they begin their recovery.

We can also confirm that Precision continues to assist the official accident investigation that will determine the cause of the accident and we understand that the two flight recorders have been recovered so as to assist that process.

Precision Air has received a number of enquiries from various interested parties as to the compensation payable to the passengers who were on board our flight.

Whilst we continue to condole with both the families of the deceased and those who survived, we wish to assure stakeholders that Precision Air is properly insured to meet claims for compensation and will do so in accordance with applicable legislation and rules.

It will be appreciated that issues of compensation are private and confidential and we will not discuss them in public.

Finally we wish to thank all those who have been engaged in assisting and responding to the tragedy including local and national government officials and those in the Bukoba community who took part in the rescue operation. We are especially appreciative and extend our gratitude to the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania led by our President Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan for the support they have provided and continue to provide to us.

We pray to God to give us strength and wisdom in the time ahead and to answer the prayers of all those who have been affected by this tragedy.
