PRECISION AIR PLANS RETURN TO SONGWE AIRPORT
(Posted 27th March 2020)
Tanzania, with few cases of #COVID19 at present, has not imposed any movement restrictions on domestic travel so far.
Precision Air is using this opportunity to relaunch their flights to Mbeya, a city served through Songwe Airport.
Songwe Airport, usually referred to in flight schedules as Mbeya, is an airport in the southern highland region of Tanzania, serving the city of Mbeya and the surrounding Mbeya Region.
The announcement that was made by the company yesterday hinted that the return to the route is also due to high demand from the market.
Quoted in the press release, Precision Air’s Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager, Mr. Hillary Mremi said, “Starting from 06th of April 2020, there will be daily flights to Songwe departing at 09:40 AM from Dar es Salaam arriving in Mbeya at 11:30 AM and departing from Mbeya at 12:00 PM arriving in Dar es Salaam at 13:50 PM. We are excited to reopen this route as pioneers back in 2014, it feels like home coming for us.”
Mr. Hillary went on to add that the flight time is just 1hr 50minutes, making it very convenient for business people to travel and be able to make best use of their time in accomplishing their businesses. He also added that, with the affordable fares that they have set, it will allow passengers to save cost and allocate their money to other necessary need.
Given the present conditions and need for increased hygiene and disinfection of their aircraft, Precision Air has instituted a special protocol as a way to prevent the spread of COVID 19. Precautions taken includes providing hand sanitizers for its passengers and crew while doing thorough disinfection of aircraft cabins after every flight.
Established in 1993, Precision Air is a public listed airline that provides scheduled flights to over 13 destinations within and outside Tanzania from its main hub in Dar es Salaam, including Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Serengeti, Mtwara, Kahama, Bukoba, Mwanza, Zanzibar, Tabora, Dodoma, Entebbe and Nairobi (at the moment are flights to Entebbe and Nairobi suspended as a result of airspace and border closures). Other services provided by the company includes charter and cargo air services.
