Pro Sky chose the island of Reunion for its annual MICE event

Fifty French MICE agencies were invited by Sky Pro for exploring the island of Reunion, in partnership with the Reunion Island Tourism Office (IRT), the regional airline Air Austral, the Palm Resort Hotel & Spa and local DMCs. The visit to Reunion held all its promises in terms of reception, hotel infrastructure and incentives.
Each year, Pro Sky organizes a trip in collaboration with its partners to find a destination, near or far. In 2016, Pro Sky has chosen the island of Reunion for its annual trip during which fifty specialized MICE travel agents were invited. During four days last week, the participants discovered the benefits of Reunion not only in terms of tourist stays, but also in terms of organization of MICE events.

Arrived on June 2 at the island of Reunion on the flight UU 974 operated by Air Austral , the group was supported by the incoming agencies and Odyssey Comptoir Corail . This first day was dedicated to the roots, history and population of the island before MICE agents were taken to Stella Matutina . This former sugar factory, now a museum and meeting facility, showcases the history of Reunion and the sugar plantations. Renovated in 2011, the place offers a 400-seat auditorium , ideal for MICE groups.

After a lunch at the restaurant La Trattoria of Iloha Seaview Hotel , which overlooks the bay of Saint-Leu, participants attended a challenging transparent kayaking even on the lagoon of the Hermitage. Another key tour the group enjoyed: an overview of the island offered by the company Corail Helicopters! Hosted at Palm Hotel & Spa did the MICE professionals check into their rooms in the evening.

The second day of this journey of discovery was devoted to sports and nature. The incoming agencies and Anthurium Connections Meeting boarded fifty MICE agents for a trip to the wild south with Kréolie 4×4. On the program: the discovery of the Piton de la Fournaise, Reunions highly active volcano, the Plain of Kaffirs , of ancient lava flows and the Notre Dame des Laves surrounded by the lava flow of 1977.

Before returning to the hotel for a relaxing and well-being at the Akéa Spa & Beauty , the group enjoyed a lunch in the heart of the sugar cane plantations in the Palm restaurant.
Saturday, June 4 gave the group the opportunity to discover a unique facet of the island of Reunion. From 7am, winners of the earlier kayak challenge flew to discover Reunion from the sky and its Pitons, cirques and ramparts listed as World Heritage by UNESCO .

Following the program of the third day allowed the professionals to choose an activity. Four activities were proposed: snorkeling in the Langevin river with the incoming agency Anthurium, a trip by quad bike into the forest Makes or a visit the lava tunnels with incoming agency Mille Tours but also hiking in the Roche Merveilleuse in the circus Cilaos with the incoming agency Comptoir Corail. After this intense day, a workshop was organized in the hotel’s conference room. On this occasion, MICE agents were able to meet all partners and local tourism providers which invested in this journey of discovery. After the effort, the comfort! The gala dinner took place on Saturday night at Kah Beach , Beach restaurant Palm Hotel & Spa.

Sunday, June 5, before leaving for Paris again, did participants use their latest Reunion day to relax. The island of Reunion has convinced all the professionals of its many strengths: direct daily flights, a time difference of two to three hours with France, the safety of a French department in the heart of the Indian Ocean, the various sites of activities and accommodation, the quality of infrastructure and last but not least the sites listed as World Heritage by UNESCO.

This journey of discovery to Reunion was a success and should allow MICE agents offer more destination the island of Reunion to their clients.
