(Posted 19th December 2014)
Ugandan hotels, resorts and lodges have yet to make a major impact when it comes to the international award scene, apart from Serena’s two properties having in the past bagged major honours.
This time it is the Protea Kampala Hotel which got picked as Kampala’s best business hotel by the World Luxury Hotel Awards.
Besides the hotel in Kampala does the group operate one at the international airport in Entebbe while a another hotel is under construction in the Western town of Hoima, seat of the Bunyoro Kingdom and a hotspot for oil exploration.
Plans for more hotels in Uganda are said to be at an advanced stage while across the border in Rwanda is the brand also present. Said Stuart Cook, the Managing Director of Protea Hotels East Africa on the occasion: ‘Teamwork and service remain the keystones of guest relations at Protea Hotel Kampala. No matter how luxurious and beautiful your surroundings are, if the service is wanting, the entire stay is affected’.
True that is and congrats to one of the rare winners in Uganda of a globally recognized award!
