QATAR AIRWAYS ANNOUNCES DJIBOUTI TO COME ON LINE BY END JULY

Qatar Airways is widening its footprint in Africa with the addition of Djibouti, come 27th of July.
The airline will initially fly three times a week between Doha and Djibouti with flights operating every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
The airline’s CEO Akbar Al Baker, who made the announcement yesterday, was quoted to have said: ‘Djibouti is another example of Qatar Airways’ commitment to opening up access to destinations that are largely underserved by international airlines and have great market potential. Just in September last year we launched thrice-weekly operations to neighbouring Ethiopia. We believe that these exciting destinations in the Horn of Africa have great potential linking up with key feeder markets in the Middle East, Europe, Asia and other parts of the world. As an airline with an ever expanding global network of 136 destinations, Qatar Airways will be able to fulfil the needs of the travelling public from such markets, and for those wanting to travel there from destinations we serve around the world’.
Qatar Airways will be using an Airbus A320 for the service with a dual class configuration offering 12 business class seats and 132 seats in economy class. With a fleet of now 129 aircraft Qatar Airways now operates flights to 136 scheduled destinations. In the wider Eastern African region Qatar Airways presently serves Entebbe and Kigali, Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro and Addis Ababa.
