Angola will no doubt see a massive boost in arrivals come end March next year, when Qatar Airways, the world’s first five star airline, will commence flights between Doha and Luanda.
A Boeing B787 will serve the route up to five times a week, offering passengers superb comfort in a 1 x 2 x 1 configured business class and a 3 x 3 x 3 configured economy class.
While tourism may at this stage not be the immediate target will business travelers no doubt be, finding connectivity with Angola much improved.
Tourism is at present only an up and coming sector of the economy despite hundreds of miles of untouched beaches and some hinterland national parks – which however require massive investments in infrastructure.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said when making the announcement over the weekend: “We are excited to be announcing our new service to Luanda – the latest destination in our rapidly expanding African network connecting Luanda to key markets in the Far East, South East Asia and Europe. The new route to the coastal city of Luanda not only further solidifies the links between the State of Qatar and Angola, but will enable us to provide a seamless journey to and from this fascinating country and one of the world’s fastest growing economies. Qatar Airways is committed to growing our presence in Africa and adding to the 24 destinations in 17 countries we already offer”.

Perched on the Atlantic coastline, Luanda, offers pristine beaches, sweeping ocean vistas and insight into a rich heritage. This up-and-coming destination is set to become a favourite with travellers looking to combine natural beauty, history and culture with a vibrant urban experience.

Qatar Airways currently operates a state of the art fleet of more than 250 aircraft via its hub, Hamad International Airport (HIA) to more than 160 destinations worldwide.

The national carrier for the State of Qatar has recently launched exciting new destinations, including Rabat, Morocco; Izmir, Turkey; Malta; Davao, Philippines; Lisbon, Portugal; and Mogadishu, Somalia. The airline has also added Langkawi, Malaysia, and Gaborone, Botswana, will follow in October 2019.
