Qatar Airways plans a surprise for the launch of Atlanta flights

INAUGURAL ATLANTA FLIGHT TO BE OPERATED BY QATAR AIRWAYS’ AIRBUS A380

(Posted 28th April 2016)

Information received from the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, where Qatar Airways is represented with their new exhibition stand, suggests that when the airline launches flights to Atlanta on the 01st of June, they will operate a one off Airbus A380 service. Atlanta makes it the 10th destination in North America for Qatar Airways.
The regular daily service will in contrast use a Boeing B777 aircraft.
The A380 is one of the few aircraft in the Qatar Airways fleet configured with First Class – eight suites – Business Class with 48 state of the art flat bed seats and notably a lounge where passengers can mingle or stretch their legs, while there are also 461 economy class seats spread over both decks of the double decker A380.

Qatar Airways currently operates six Airbus A380s in its fleet, which are regularly serving London (LHR), Paris (CDG) and Bangkok (BKK). Qatar Airways originally ordered 13 Airbus A380s, with seven still to be delivered.

The airline has selected Atlanta as its first United States route to receive the superjumbo to celebrate the launch of its tenth new destination to the USA. There are presently no other scheduled A380 services by the carrier to other points on its Americas footprint.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Mr. Akbar Al Baker said: ‘Qatar Airways will inaugurate Atlanta, its tenth destination to the United States, in just a few weeks’ time and in honour of that, we wished to provide our passengers with a unique experience, in addition to the Airbus A350 and the Boeing 777 which are signature products that we currently fly across all our gateways in the United States. The Qatar Airways A380 provides a memorable experience for our passengers, with a spacious double decker layout, refined finishings, customised interiors and convenient design. We look forward to welcoming our passengers to and from Atlanta on our inaugural flight on June 1, but also on every flight thereafter. We look forward to serving the global travel needs of the people of Atlanta‘.
