While announcing the expansion of Doha’s Hamad International Airport – set to cater for up to 60 million passengers a year when complete – did Qatar Airways’ Group Chief Executive Mr. Akbar Al Baker also confirm that the airline would set a new record next year in regard of new aircraft deliveries.
The airport expansion is due to be completed by the time the FIFA World Cup 2022 springs to life.
Qatar Airways, for long on a steady growth path, has in the past taken delivery of a maximum of 35 aircraft a year but this number will rise to a whopping 40 in 2020.
Now operating already some 250 aircraft and with a further 300 aircraft on order worth over 85 billion US Dollars, has Qatar Airways a few days ago also become a launch customer for the latest Gulfstream G00 series – 10 aircraft on firm order – which will be added to the dedicated business jet fleet the airline operates on a charter basis.
The fleet composition of Qatar Airways, as of the end of March this year, was 203 mainstream passenger aircraft, 25 dedicated cargo aircraft and 22 executive jets.

Qatar Airways flies daily between Doha and Entebbe in Uganda, using a Boeing B787 for the service.
