Due to commercial reasons, all Qatar Airways flights to and from Khartoum, Republic of Sudan will be temporarily suspended effective 1 April 2019 until further notice‘ read a statement made by Qatar Airways last week.
The move will further reduce travel options from and to the Sudan, which has seen a number of airlines withdraw their flights in the past over the country’s failure to let them remit sales proceeds due to lack of foreign currency.
Only yesterday did Qatar Airways take delivery of their 250th aircraft, an Airbus A350-900 but clearly is the Sudan not going to benefit from the airline’s continued growth.
The airline’s statement also asked ticketed passengers travelling to/from Khartoum after 31st of March 2019 to contact their point of sale for refunds.
