SOUTH SUDAN SUPREME AIRLINES UNDER THE MICROSCOPE OVER ALLEGED FAKE REGISTRATION OF CRASH AIRCRAFT

A South Sudan Supreme Airlines LET 410 crashed 24 hours ago shortly after take off with 8 passengers and 2 crew on board near the Pieri airstrip. The flight was destined for the Yuai airstrip. None of those on board survived the crash.
The aircraft, according to information released by the Jonglei State Government, was registered as HK-2474 with no MSN or first entry into service available. The registration immediately raised many questions as it appears to be fake, belonging to a Columbian AB205B helicopter which is no longer in use.
South Sudan Supreme Airlines is now under pressure to provide all technical data and maintenance files, as well as either purchase agreement or lease agreement, to shed light on the true identity of this aircraft.
South Sudan’s aviation regulator is also facing questions how this could happen and if oversight once again failed or fell victim to possible corrupt practices.
South Sudan has a reputation of aviation accidents spread over the past years, and oversight and enforcement have time and again been criticised, but as the latest accident shows, have no changes been effected.
