Three properties will now come under the name of Manrik Hotels, which made its debut appearance at this year’s Magical Kenya Travel Expo.
Comprising the Eka Hotel, located along the airport highway close to both Wilson and Jomo Kenyatta airports does Manrik also incorporate the Ol Tukai Lodge in Amboseli and the Kibo Villa, also in Amboseli.
The Eka Hotel in Nairobi offers guests 169 rooms and suites including special needs guestrooms while the Ol Tukai Lodge comprises 80 rooms facing both Mt. Kilimanjaro and the extensive plains and swamps in front of the lodge.
The Kibo Villa is set in its own five acres of woodlands and offers three bedrooms, dining, lounge and a BBQ area for the exclusive use of villa guests.

While speaking with the Manrik Team on the stand at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre it was also make bluntly clear by them that the hotel company has no association whatsoever with a South African hotel management company by the name of Sovereign Hotels, which last week announced their presence when opening the Pearl of Africa Hotel in Nairobi.

Says their website:

Regarded as one of Africa’s premier hotel management companies, Sovereign offers expertise in managing three-, four- and five-star hotels across Africa.

Our experience includes managing and marketing a range of city hotels, bush lodges, resorts and timeshare developments through our Sovereign’s Executive Team.

Our mission is to establish Africa in its rightful place as one of the world’s premier hospitality destinations. Sovereign operates on the continent of Africa and in the Indian Ocean Islands, serving the mid-market and up-market hotel sectors.

This statement caused both amusement as well as acid comments from among Kenyan hoteliers of good standing present at #MKTE2017, especially when they learned that the Eka Hotel and the Ol Tukai Lodge had denied any association with Sovereign Hotels.

The General Manager of the Pearl of Africa Hotel in Kampala, one Mike Jameson told journalists last week as widely reported in the Ugandan media: ‘This is the first facility we are managing in Uganda, four in Kenya and several others in S. Africa, where we employ strong teams of expertise in hotel industry‘ and questions are now being asked what is correct and the truth in this statement vis a vis his company’s claimed involvement in any of the named properties in Kenya.

Expect a separate report on this breaking news development during the course of this week, also extending to other properties in Kenya this obscure company claims to manage or be associated with.
