Reunion, always finding novel ways to whip up a storm of attention

GETTING YOUR HAIR DONE WHILE LEARNING ABOUT A DESTINATION – ONLY REUNION CAN COME UP WITH SUCH NOVELTIES

(Posted 16th May 2015)

Reunion Island Tourism (IRT) in partnership with Rainbow, a Belgian tour operator, the Lux * hotel group and home airline Air Austral, participated in two day workshop on the theme of wellness holidays. For the occasion, two hairdressers from Wallonia and Flanders were brought on board to be associated with the event. A splendid way no doubt to combine work and pleasure for some 35 travel agents from the Belgian market.

Change was in the air and in the hair it seems when IRT in collaboration with Rainbow, a tour operator based in Belgium looked to breaking new ground how to organize educational workshops for travel agents.

In early May were 35 selected travel agents working with the Rainbow tour operator invited to be part of a professional investment by IRT, which had invited them to attend a training workshop to learn more about Reunion as a destination.

Two leading hair salons in Flanders and Wallonia were on site too, for travel professionals to have an opportunity to combine business with pleasure: forming on the destination Meeting while making hair done by a professional of the sector. The training, which took place in groups of three, helped to personalize each session and tailor the content according to the expectations of travel agents, first on the island in general and, secondly, on the regional airline Air Austral and the high-end hotel group Lux * Resorts & Hotels.

In parallel to this action were several visits to agents programmed in Leuven, Tielt and Brugge for the Flemish region and Liege and Verviers for the Wallon region. In total were five such selected agencies visited by IRT’s Anne-Laure Payet, who was accompanied by a representative of Rainbow. These commercial visits helped to specifically target and identify the agencies which sell Reunion already and which have shown growing interest to sell more.

This sales and marketing activity was successfully reinforcing the presence of the Reunion on the Belgian market, one of the priority markets for the development of tourism arrivals for the island.
