Reunion’s drive to diversity its tourism source markets has seen this French Indian Ocean island make another appearance at the ongoing World Travel Market in London.

Accompanied by the IRT, aka Ile de la Reunion Tourisme or the island’s tourist board, a delegation of incoming agencies comprising Connections Meeting and Mille Tours, the home airline Air Austral, Exsel Hotels and the Vanilla Islands representatives came to meet the anticipated 50,000 trade visitors expected at this year’s World Travel Market which takes place in London from November 2 to 5.

For four days, the island of La Reunion Tourism and professionals from the Reunion Island tourism industry promote the island with a stand in which they are highlighting the authentic and natural tourist attractions of the island, ‘…which corresponds to the current demand of European markets‘ according to the Chairman of the IRT, Patrick Serveaux.

Since the introduction of the code share between Air Austral and Air France, access to Reunion is now made easier from major European cities and departure airports as passengers can board from several of Air France’s European destinations and then connect in Paris to St. Denis, the island’s capital city.

The presence of Reunion in London is therefore aimed as much as the English market as for the international market to grow traffic for this spectacular Indian Ocean destination.

Note that pre-arranged workshops allowed the IRT team to meet over 200 buyers and over 100 English travel bloggers to equip them with detailed knowledge about the destination.

WTM London is a key European travel trade show event in terms of visitors. It brings together the world’s largest industry gathering of destinations, tour operators, hotels, airlines, technology and online services and it covers a wide range of sectors in the travel and tourism industry.
