(Posted 26th December 2014)
Reunion is clearly trending as a destination and the forecast for 2015 is no different. SkyScanner.com has ‘tested’ the markets and used data compiled since 2013 and a trip to Reunion is ranking as number 7 of the dream destinations according to the survey which was published in November and came up with these top 10:
Top 10 :
1. Panama
2. Nicaragua
3. Colombo (Sri Lanka)
4. Brazil
5. Burma
6. Siem Reap (Cambodia)
7. Reunion
8. Iceland

The island of Reunion trends as 7th among the top ten and is perceived today as one of the places of the planet’s most wanted in 2015, thanks to major tourist attractions across the entire island which helped to make a name for the island as an adventure and extreme outdoor sports destination, besides the more conventional beach holidays and associated ocean activities like whale and dolphin watching. Information compiled by SkyScanner.com included:
- research information made by the French to Reunion increased 26% compared to 2013
- the many ecological environmental projects make Reunion "one of the top destinations in 2015 in the ecotourism sector" (research on tropical biodiversity and reducing carbon emissions by 2030)
- opening new direct flights and a spa chain of hotels.
- the exemption of visas for visitors from China and India will be the kickoff of an Asian tourist boom.
In a related development have a further 20 applicants passed the stringent audit to become either new members, seven to be precise, or renewed their membership, 13 of them, of Reunion’s Seal of Quality just before the Christmas and New Year festive season, elevating these service providers into the top ranks of service quality for visitors.
Developed in 1996, the label Reunion Quality Tourism (RQT) has given way to the new label Qualité Tourisme Reunion Island (QTIR) in 2013. Today, 140 members are part of this trademark. These professional members are subject to regular assessments and have signed a quality charter under which they must commit to maintain the highest standards of service.

- The Boucan-Canot Bed
- Marmite Fisherman (St. Philip)
- Greedy Inn (Saint-Gilles-les-Hauts)
