GERMAN MARKET REMAINS REUNION’S TARGET FOR MORE VISITORS
(Posted 05th September 2014)
From Hamburg via Berlin, Dresden, Nuremberg, Munich but also Frankfurt and Duesseldorf were all key cities targeted by Reunion’s Tourism Board in an ongoing campaign to attract more high spending Germans to come and visit the French Indian Ocean island. Special roadshows in which IRT participated under the auspices of FTI, Germany’s fourth largest tour operator but also on and individual basis connected nearly 400 travel agencies with Reunion, from where key DMC’s and resorts but also home airline Air Austral worked hand in hand with Ile de la Reunion Tourisme to showcase the island’s wide range of attractions from its sunniest side.
Others from Africa on the FTI roadshow were Namibia, South Africa and the Seychelles, the latter like Reunion a founder member of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands Organization and a close ally of Reunion to promote inter island travel.
(Well attended sessions across Germany demonstrated high interest in Reunion’s tourism offerings)
(Annika Heckler, IRT’s German representative, seen interacting with travel agents during the seminars)
Said IRT’s Germany representative Annika Heckler about the purpose, intent and results of the roadshow: ‘We can clearly see that the reputation of the island in major German cities increased sharply’ after naming the objectives of the seminars and roadshow as: ‘ Developing the image of the destination and increase sales of the tour operator on Reunion FTI’. Clearly it was mission accomplished for this round of working the German market with more and more visitors from that country now flying to Reunion for adventure and relaxation.
