ONE DAY – ONE CITY – ONE WORKSHOPAS REUNION COURTS THE FRENCH MARKET

Starting tomorrow will Reunion Tourism and participating private sector stakeholders from the island begin a roadshow across France, covering such cities as Marseille, Lyon and Paris.
Following the just ended ITB in Berlin, where Reunion registered substantial additional interest in vacations on the island, will IRT – short for Ile de la Reunion Tourisme – hold full day workshops for travel agents and tour operators in three of France’s main cities to promote travel to the island.
Reunion is a region of France but located deep in the Indian Ocean, west of Madagascar and south of Mauritius and linked by air through home airline Air Austral, but also XL Airways and Corsair.
The planned events will give attendees of the workshops an insight in the destination and allow for informal exchanges and networking. The IRT and 22 local partners (hotels and restaurants, airlines and helicopters, incoming agencies) will stop first in the 2nd district of Marseille on March 15th at the Refectory restaurant. On March 16th , they will move to Lyon’s Victoria Hall (7th district) and then finally the Elyseum in the 8th arrondissement of Paris on March 17th.
The first such event of the year is again dedicated to meeting key stakeholders from
Reunion and revolves around three main objectives for the IRT:
- increase bookings and expand sales to Reunion;
- strengthen and enhance the links established with the players of French tourism;
- enhance the reputation of the destination while ensuring its media visibility.
Several honorary tourism ambassadors of Reunion will be present for the occasion and will also, in their own way, help with the promotion of the island through their own professional and social networks
