Reunion seeks novel ways to have investors in the hospitality sector show creativity

Vanilla Islands founder member Reunion, focused on promoting the island in new and emerging markets across the world, has not forgotten the fundamentals at home though where the quality of services and infrastructure is a key to make a holiday enjoyable and problem free.

Towards that end has IRT, Ile de la Reunion Tourisme, just provided details on two news items, happily shared here.

First did the President of IRT Mr. Patrick Serveaux, launch a booklet yesterday at a media briefing at Villa Maido.

Being a major party to the ongoing restructuring and refocusing of the island’s tourism sector, IRT launched a new booklet to inspire investors in the hospitality sector of thinking outside the box and becoming creative, reflecting the island’s many faces and attractions transformed into hotel and resort layouts and rooms.

This document is the result of work undertaken by architects, landscape architects and interior designers, during several creative workshops held by IRT to find common ground and come up with inspired new concepts. In this booklet does IRT wish stimulate an emphasis on unusual accommodation, in a desire to meet the current demand of travelers

On the other hand, it acts as an influential element with communities and planning authorities for the development of new accommodation, in fact unusual accommodation throughout the island.

Three categories of sites have been identified: the highlands, the mid-slope and coastal and for each sector, the paper reports specific targeted products in three main areas:

Biodiversity, ecology, sustainable development and the growing environmental awareness in travelers, who pay more and more attention to the ecological footprint and green credentials of the chosen accommodation. This request is consistent with Reunion’s intention to develop a tourism industry showing respect for the island’s natural heritage.

Features Reunion, traditions and cultural heritage: The spirit of place and local identity to differentiate and separate accommodation, among the multitude of offers. The remarkable Creole identity of Reunion island lays at the crossroads of cultures and continents, is perfectly suited to this approach.

Exclusivity, originality, innovation: The architectural choices, the development of an original design, technological innovation, the exclusive location on a site, are strengths which enable the accommodation Reunion gain real notoriety and seeking to satisfy an audience of new experiences.
The booklet proposes ten concepts, depending on the region, covering then areas of work and inspiration: the huts, metal structures, ephemeral habitats, implementation of a historic or heritage site, ecosystems lodges and mineral water versions, decks hotels built on the roofs among others.

In a related development did renowned chef Jehan Colson recently launch ‘Le Fabrique’, a very posh new eatery

After a successful experience as a chef at the Makassar, the gourmet restaurant of the five star Palm Hotel & Spa ***** has Jehan Colson finally launched his own restaurant in the city center of Saint-Denis, the island’s capital.

In tradition with the island’s cuisine will only fresh ingredients, organic where available, be used in the kitchen of Reunion’ latest restaurant and the influence of Creole spices and food preparation will be evident throughout the menu.
