REUNION TOURISM INVITES THE GERMAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM
(Posted 29th July 2014)
Ile de la Reunion Tourisme, keen to bring more German tourists to this French Indian Ocean island, has extended personal invitations to the entire ‘Nationalmannschaft’ aka the national football team, which last month won the FIFA World Cup in Brazil in a convincing fashion. The invitation was handed to the team manager Oliver Bierhoff at the DFB headquarters in Frankfurt by IRT Director Ariane Loupy and includes the coaching team around ‘Jogi’ Loew and all players who went to Brazil to conquer the footballing world. IRT is partnering with the Palm Hotel & Spa ***** and others to host the World Champions when a date for the visit had been finalized.
Germany is one of Reunion’s fast growing markets from Europe and is accessible by air through Air Austral, which flies 12 times a week to Paris. German tourists are keen on active holidays and the range of attractions on the island, from the beaches to the hiking trails in the rugged interior, from watching whales and dolphins to white water rafting, abseiling, canyoning and paragliding seems an ideal destination for those seeking a bit of adventure while on vacation. The visit of the ‘Nationalmannschaft’ will no doubt raise the profile of Reunion as a destination in the hotly contested German market, showcasing the unique blend of European infrastructure and organization and the Creole culture, cuisine and history of the island.
