TOP RESA SEES REUNION TOURISM FORGE STRONGER TIES WITH AIRLINES
(Posted 27th September 2014)
There is no better place to talk business than a major tourism trade fair and there are no better partners for an island destination than airlines to sit down with.
This is exactly what Reunion Tourism did at the just concluded Top Resa, France’s most important international tourism trade fair and extensive talks were held with Air France, Corsair, XL Airlines and of course home carrier Air Austral, the latter flying 12 times a week with a state of the art B777 between Reunion’s capital St. Denis and Paris.
The objective for the partners was clear, to bring more tourists to the island and to fill the seats of airlines flying to the Roland Garros International Airport so that all sides could benefit from cooperative sales and marketing efforts.
Subsequently were new partnership agreements signed between IRT and top executives of the four airlines which will over and above all else avail IRT with access to tickets for media persons, travel agents and tour operators’ staff, who are regularly invited to the island to sample the wide range of attractions and, like this correspondent, then become tourism ambassadors for Reunion and keep reporting about new developments in the hospitality and tourism sector.
Reunion Tourism will over the coming months continue the trend started already last year to work the French market but also other European markets which are linked, via Paris, by air to the island.
October and November are high season months for Reunion and past and present efforts to market have led to expectations of record arrivals and bed occupancies for hotels and resorts.
